Ramadan is Fastly Approaching
It's that time of year again. When all the things that I worry and stress over on a regular basis fade in comparison to how amazing it would be to have a cup of coffee in the morning accompanied by an egg and cheese croissant. When a glass of water during midday seems like the sweetest nectar of the gods. When I have to be not bothered by all the incredibly annoying and inconsiderate things that people do. Over the years, these practices have become much easier to deal with, especially as of late since Ramadan has been gracing us with it's presence in the late fall months and mostly after daylight savings time. This year marks the first year in a long time that the entire month will be prior to falling backwards. That means that instead of having to fast for a total of 9-10 hours per day, this year the average day of fasting will be roughly about 13 hours.
Assuming that the increased length of days will add to my overall incoherency, I've decided to take it upon myself to capture these moments on video. I am hoping by doing this that:
1. I will get a better understanding of how exactly I cope with this process
2. I can highlight the ways in which fasting in the US is different than fasting in the Arab world
3. I may capture some interestingly real moments about human nature
4. I will have something to keep me occupied
The rest of the posts from here on out will be of the moving image variety. I'm not promising they'll be fully understandable, however, I can guarantee they'll be easier to decipher than me trying to type. I welcome all comments and suggestions and if there is anything specifically you would like me to touch on in these daily vlogs, please let me know. Here's to hoping I don't forget to press record!
