Sorry to leave you without backup at the game last night.
People get offended because when you don't play by the societal norms/rules of "playing" then you are saying to that person I have a better game now you must catch up with me...me...me...me...me. In fact that person views it as being all about you and your inability to participate makes you anti-social. The irony is that you are not, in fact, being anti-social but even more so social by not adressing these insipid socially constructed and mutually agreeable(?) terms. "How are you", "I'm sad and unhappy.", "(insert quirky five and dime life metaphor here and be on your way)" I have made no attempt at being socially and positively construed in anyway or form this past week. I did pass a guy and he smiled at me and I thought to myself, "Was I smiling at him? Was that a homoerotic moment? Did Allah want me to walk through this?" No, it was one hour before breakfast and I WAS on cloudnine.
Why didn't we get a shot of the Spaghetti Pizza?????? As for Ramadan and fasting, I think it's been going by relatively quickly, but maybe that's because I had the privelege of observing the first week in Palestine. Anywhooo, keep yo' head up and your gut sucked in homie...we're more than half way there ;-)
